Sleeping in the Style of Yesteryear — With Every Modern Comfort

The first floor of L’Ancienne École still breathes the atmosphere of the past. This was once the living heart of the old village school, and many original details have been carefully preserved to retain its charm. Today, it houses four beautifully updated bedrooms — all comfortable, all peaceful, and all with sweeping views over the garden and the rolling Corrèze landscape.

Each room features air conditioning for cooling and heating, and the beds are made up on arrival, so your holiday begins the moment you walk in.

The First Floor — A Blend of History and Comfort

The Master Bedroom

The former teachers’ kitchen is now the master bedroom — a spacious and serene retreat. Its private en-suite bathroom includes:

• a large double bathtub
• a washbasin set in an antique school desk
• its own toilet

Original elements from the school have been preserved here, giving the room a nostalgic and elegant atmosphere.

Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4

The old teacher’s living room — where pupils once sat for small meetings and conversations — has been transformed into two bathrooms:

• one en-suite for the master bedroom
• one large shared bathroom for the three additional bedrooms

Bedrooms 2, 3 and 4 are all double rooms, each with:

• air conditioning
• wardrobes or chests of drawers
• south-facing windows with shutters
• wide, open views across the countryside

This floor features three toilets in total:

• one in the master en-suite
• one in the main bathroom
• one at the end of the hallway — exactly where the teachers’ toilet once stood

It’s a floor full of character, where old and new blend effortlessly.

The Second Floor — The Living Lounge

Up the staircase — once the route to the school attic — you enter the impressive Living Lounge, now a luxurious 100 m² entertainment space.

This attic was still filled with original school belongings when we bought the property: old school benches, wooden teaching materials, religious statues and framed images used in the classroom. Many of these historic items now serve as decorative pieces throughout the house, giving L’Ancienne École an unmistakable, authentic charm.

Today, the attic is the perfect place to unwind, play or simply escape the bustle downstairs. The Living Lounge offers:

• a full home cinema
• a powerful HD beamer projecting onto a large screen
• Apple TV, Netflix, Prime and IPTV
• a surround sound system that gives you the feeling of sitting in a real cinema
• two air-conditioning units for heating or cooling
• a table tennis table
• a shuffleboard
• a small desk area, perfect for reading, working quietly or retreating with a laptop

The room can be completely darkened in seconds — ideal for film nights that last until far after the sun has set.

A Romantic Story Hiding in Every Corner

Throughout both floors, you’ll find small reminders of the building’s past:
old school desks, religious icons, wooden benches, and classroom objects we discovered during the renovation. These pieces have been carefully restored and woven into the décor of the house, creating a warm and unique atmosphere that blends history with comfort.

L’Ancienne École is more than a holiday home — it is a place with a story, shaped by a hundred years of memories and now ready to welcome new ones.
